Last week in The National Interest we discussed traffic light labelling on packaged food - should manufacturers be required to use a system of red, green and amber symbols to indicate whether the salt, fat and sugar content in foods is high, low or medium? It's a topic that generated a lot of passion: Hi this Anna from Ravenshoe. I was just listening to in The National Interest on the traffic lights labels on food and I was absolutely horrified to hear one of the speakers saying that we should be careful about the food that we make at home because we don't know the contents. For instance it might be better to buy your muesli because it's labelled rather than make your own. That is one of the most outrageous nutritional comments I have ever heard in my life. Secondly, I truly believe that if this is such an issue to label our food perhaps we should consider introducing nutrition as a subject in our schools. Obviously the people of Australia are not learning the good things to eat.
