Elementary My Dear is a 6 part podcast series by National Museums NI, hosted by Emer Maguire, where we explore the wonders of some of the most fascinating elements in the periodic table. Elements are everywhere! Each week we discuss their importance in unusual places, from their contribution to the art world, to the gold in mobile phones.

This is the final episode in our first series and it is all about radioactivity.

Mike Simms tells us about the radioactivity all around us, which can be found in the most unusual places - like your fruit bowl!

We also talk to Kate Moore who tells us about the devastating story of the Radium Girls. These were women and girls who suffered horrendous radium poisoning while working as watch dial painters during the First World War.

Listen, subscribe, and let us know what you think!
