One of the great and most frustrating paradoxes in America has to do with farmers and farming. How did a country that sprang out of the soil -- from a seed that was planted by Locke watered and fertilized by Jefferson, Madison and Hamilton -- as an agrarian society get so far away from the farm. Urban dwellers don't understand rural life. That's a real problem.
