Thanks for checking out the Neanderthal Society Podcast. This week we’re speaking with Matt Larson of the quintessential Bay Area Hardcore label Breakout Records. Matt and I first met back in the summer of 1997 when we were both just 15 years old and only still in the earlier and more formative stages of discovering Bay Area Hardcore. Over the course of the episode we discussed growing up in Long Beach, moving to the East Bay, finding Punk and Hardcore, starting Suburban Chaos fanzine, booking shows at the legendary Danville Grange Hall, his label One Scene Records, Nazis at shows in the Bay Area, his affinity for East Bay Menace Records, living in Salt Lake City, becoming an Iron worker, getting impaled on the job, the history of Breakout Records and Fanzine, moving to Portland and much more… Thanks for listening, enjoy the episode and please remember to follow us on Instagram. Hardcore lives. -Nathan
