Kathy Spaulding. Malachi touches on many themes that have been built, layer upon layer, over thousands of years in the Old Testament. This little book activates deep, rich Biblical motifs like covenant faithfulness, blessing, and messianic hope while calling God’s people back to him. Malachi also tees up expectations for a messenger to prepare the way for the Messiah. God’s people waited 400 years with that hope in mind, but we get the benefit of turning a single page in our Bible to read how Jesus fulfilled every promise. He gave his life to establish a new covenant, a new kingdom, and a new creation.
