The weekly gathering of saints that I attend had scheduled an event, “Tongues Day”. The event was to meet Saturday morning at 10am through 4pm (6 hours) and only speak in (unknown) tongues. It had been a while since I personally had prayed that long so I was very excited and eager for a good workout. What no one knew was, I was writing a book, “The Benefits of Speaking in Tongues – A 31 Day Devotional.” So this event was right on schedule! The book should be available in the Fall of 2018. Anyway, this podcast is an extract from “Tongues Day”. I recorded this portion for a friend but now, you can also edify yourself with this spiritual audio background. 1 Corinthians 14:2-4 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC) 2 For one who speaks in an [unknown] tongue speaks not to men but to God, for no one understands or catches his meaning, because in the [Holy] Spirit he utters secret truths and hidden things [not obvious to the understanding]. 3 But [on the other hand], the one who prophesies [who [a]interprets the divine will and purpose in inspired preaching and teaching] speaks to men for their upbuilding and constructive spiritual progress and encouragement and consolation. 4 He who speaks in a [strange] tongue edifies and improves himself, but he who prophesies [[b]interpreting the divine will and purpose and teaching with inspiration] edifies and improves the church and promotes growth [in Christian wisdom, piety, holiness, and happiness].
