Many people are upset over this recent decision. Texas Governor Abbott has issued a full pardon for an Army sergeant who shot a Black Lives Matter protester. Let's take a closer look at the details and reactions.

For those unfamiliar with the incident, Army Sergeant Daniel Perry shot Garrett Foster during a Black Lives Matter protest in Austin in 2020. Perry claimed he acted in self-defense after Foster, who was carrying an AK-47 rifle, approached his vehicle. Perry had stated that he felt threatened and reacted to protect himself.

Bodycam footage showed Perry visibly distraught after the incident. He claimed his vehicle was attacked by protesters, who left handprints and kick marks all over it. There were also allegations of shots being fired at his car. Officer Joshua VC, one of the first responders, testified that Perry appeared genuinely traumatized.
