In 1909 a 10 year old boy, William Edward Roberts, causes a fire in an outbuilding in Shrewsbury. He'd been living rough for two years and had often been seen gathering sticks and leaves to make a nest on which to sleep.

He's sent to a brutal industrial ship called the Clio in Bangor North Wales for 6 years but he seemingly disappears from the records.

So what happened to him? Was he killed, like many other children on the boat, or did he survive? and if so what then?

Richard Tisdale brings you the story of the Boy in The Nest - and the hunt of a living descendant as told in full on BBC Radio Shropshire's breakfast show with Eric Smith and Clare Ashford.
