This is the finding of research from the University of Pretoria (UP). It shows that in some parts of the country- it is becoming far quicker collect the volume of rain now- than it was 50 years ago. These studies were led by Charlotte McBride of the South African Weather Service, among others. In this weeks Green Scene UP's Associate Professor in Meteorology Liesl Dyson explains how this research must be used to equip local authorities to deal with instances of extreme rainfall patterns...
