By Newsbreak The Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) has ruled in favour of the Madrasah Taleemuddeen Islamic Institute at Isipingo south of Durban in the "Azaan" case brought against the institution by a resident. The appeal comes after the Durban High Court in August 2020 granted resident Chandra Ellaurie an interdict to silence the Azaan or call to prayer, saying it "disturbed his peace". The Appeals Court upheld the appeal with costs. The battle between the complainant and the Islamic institute reportedly started in 2004. Chairperson of the South African Muslim Network (SAMNET) Dr Faisal Suliman says this is not just a victory for the Islamic faith but all religions in an effort to foster tolerance...
