It’s 2050, you peek your head around the half standing ruins of what was once a bustling apartment block only to see an abandoned ice cream van.
You scope out the street, scanning every burnt out doorway, debris strewn side street and barely hanging balcony to proactively assess your surroundings to ensure any possible ambush is mitigated and or avoided.
You pounce out of the flank and dart across the street, keeping low and stealthy to avoid detection, unfortunately you just got shot in the face with a LDEW or Laser Directed Energy Weapon and it’s vaporised your head.
So ice cream's off the cards.
That might sound a bit farfetched, but consider that the cost of ammunition for Laser technology is almost free compared to conventional warfare technologies like bullets and bombs, and I think you may be surprised.
You may think that it will never get to this Laser quest style 1984 dystopia, but give it time.
