Musterion – that which is known to the mustes (the initiated) “In the N.T. it denotes, not the mysterious (as with the English word), but that which, being outside the range of unassisted natural apprehension, can be made known only by divine revelation, and is made known in a manner and at a time appointed by God, and to those only who are illumined by His Spirit. In the ordinary sense a “mystery” implies knowledge withheld, its Scriptural significance is TRUTH REVEALED…” Colossians 1:26 “…that is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints,” Ephesians 1:1-2 1. Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints who are at ______ and who are faithful in Christ Jesus: 2. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 4:1 “Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called.” The word “worthy” – Gk: AXIOS – “having the weight of” (Weighing as much as) another thing. (Vine) The Standard for Our Walk “Walk worthy of the calling with which you have been called.” - It is a Heavenly Calling – Hebrews 3:1 “Therefore holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession…” “Heavenly” in – Origin – Nature, and – Destiny - It is a Holy Calling - 2 Timothy 1:9 “(God) who has saved us and called us with a holy calling…” God is holy / we are called to be holy as well. - It is a High Calling – Philippians 3:14 (KJV) “I press toward the mark for the prize of the High Calling of God in Christ Jesus.” - It is a Hopeful Calling – Ephesians 4:4 “…just as you were called in one hope of your calling;” “Looking for the Blessed Hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour, Christ Jesus…” Titus 3:13 Two Necessary Things: 1) You must know who you are “in Christ Jesus” – Ephesians 1-3 2) You must learn to walk as one who is “in Christ Jesus” – Ephesians 4-6 2 Corinthians 5:15 “and He (the Lord Jesus Christ) died for all, (Why?) so that they who live (believers – born again ones) might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.”
