Jesus Christ – Our Perfect Sacrifice - Tolu Ogunrinde - February 25, 2024 Isaiah 6v1-5 It was in the year King Uzziah died that I saw the Lord. He was sitting on a lofty throne, and the train of his robe filled the Temple. 2 Attending him were mighty seraphim, each having six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. 3 They were calling out to each other, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies! The whole earth is filled with his glory!”4 Their voices shook the Temple to its foundations, and the entire building was filled with smoke. 5 Then I said, “It’s all over! I am doomed, for I am a sinful man. I have filthy lips, and I live among a people with filthy lips. Yet I have seen the King, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.” 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal he had taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. 7 He touched my lips with it and said, “See, this coal has touched your lips. Now your guilt is removed, and your sins are forgiven.” Leviticus 10 v 1-3: Leviticus 16 v 1-2: Preparation and forgiveness of the Priest (v 1-6, 11-14) Forgiving the Congregation (v 7-10, 15-19) Sending away Congregational sin through a scapegoat (v 7-10, 20-22) Post-Ceremonial purification of the priest (v 23-28) Meeting a continuing need of atonement for their sin (v 29-34) This ceremonial must always take place on the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month …..v 29. This is a permanent law for you, to purify the people of Israel from their sins, making them right with the Lord once each year.” v 34 Because sin is repeated in the society, the ritual of forgiveness becomes an endless statute. The Book of Hebrews also confirmed this to us.. Hebrews 10v1-4 Romans 3v5-8 The Holiness of God and the Sinful nature of man Sin: 1John3v4 - Everyone who sins is breaking God’s law, for all sin is contrary to the law of God. “Any lack of conformity to the character of God whether in act or state.” Sin & Blood - Leviticus 17v11 Jesus Christ became - the sin (1cor. 5v21), the lamb (John 1v29), and the Priest (Hebrew 5). All these emphasizes the extent of God's love and the lengths to which He went to reconcile humanity to Himself! All glory belongs to God for His unwavering and incomparable love for us, as demonstrated through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. So, what makes Jesus Christ our perfect sacrifice? Hebrew 7v23-25; 9v11-14 Hebrew 10v 8-12, 19-22 What does Gentiles mean? – A Gentile is a modern English term that is used to translate “goy”(Hebrew word for nation) i.e. a non-Jewish person or nation. Ephesians 2v11-18 In Conclusion: “Redeem” – To buy back, to regain possession, to repurchase If you want to know how valuable a product is, check how much is paid for it. Heb 7v12 With his own blood—not the blood of goats and calves—he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever. 1Cor.15 v 56-57 For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. 57 But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ died to prove how valuable we are to GOD and his resurrection was the evidence that SIN was destroyed!
