Addressing issues at home and abroad, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz faced off on the debate stage for the first time Tuesday night. They offered their perspectives on a wide range of issues—from election integrity to immigration, to international affairs. The event wrapped up on a cordial and civil note.

Vance and Walz, each praised their own debate performance as they hit the campaign trail Wednesday. Vance defended his answer to a question on the 2020 election, and Walz touted a tougher stance on China.

Israel vowed retaliation after Iran launched nearly 200 missiles into the Jewish state. The missiles were largely intercepted by Israeli and U.S. defenses. Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces continued their ground offensive into southern Lebanon. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave his condolences to the families of eight soldiers who recently died in the fighting there.

The death toll from Hurricane Helene continues to rise, as hundreds remain missing in the storm's aftermath. Local authorities have been ramping up efforts to reconnect with communities and provide relief.
