The co-founder of Apple, Steve Jobs has died at the age of 56. He was one of the world's best-known business leaders and was credited with transforming the world of digital technology, with the Macintosh personal computer, the iPod, iPad and iPhone. Mr Jobs stepped down as Apple's chief executive in August because of poor health. From Los Angeles, Peter Bowes reports. Steve Jobs was the heart and soul of one of the world's most successful companies. In announcing his death, Apple said his brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The statement continues. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve. He never chose to discuss his health in any detail. He had a form of pancreatic cancer. But Steve Jobs suffered from other medical problems. He'll be remembered as a showman and as an extraordinary innovator. President Obama described Steve Jobs as a visionary. The Microsoft chairman Bill Gates said his great rival had had a profound impact on the world.
