This week's Theme Park News:

• Walt Disney World Resort confirmed the cancellation of this year's Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom and the Candlelight Processional at Epcot, this week. The resort will still be celebrating the holidays with Santa Claus and Christmas character cavalcades appearing in all 4 parks from November 6th.

• Walt Disney World has announced that the Build your own lightsaber experience at Savi's Workshop will return September 20 inside Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disney's Hollywood Studios

• America’s largest Amusement industry Expo, IAAPA Expo, was officially cancelled this week. It was scheduled to be in Orlando this November.

• Universal Orlando had both theme parks and Volcano Bay hit capacity over the labour day weekend for the first time since reopening. • Tokyo Disney Resort has announced that it will start charging ¥20 (about 20 cents US) for plastic bags at its parks.

• Cedar Point kicked off a new family friendly Halloween event Tricks and Treats Fall Fest this week, which runs weekends through to November 1st.

• The State of California lowered Orange County’s pandemic restrictions, which allows for the likes of Downtown Disney and Knotts Berry Farm to reopen indoor dining at 25% capacity.

• At Wuxi Sunac Land in China last weekend, the Mack Rides “Blue Fire” coaster Steam Racers had a misfired launch which exactly matched the force required to reach the top of the initial hill, without going over or rolling back. It was reported that riders were stuck on the banked turn at the top of the hill for approximately an hour before the coaster train was brought back down and the riders were able to disembark.
