Markus Fjellström holds a PhD in Archaeological Science from the department of Archaeology and Classical studies at Stockholm University.
During his PhD his research focused on diet and mobility patterns from the late Iron Age to the late 19th century in Sápmi.
Sápmi defines the land of the Sámi, an area that stretches from southern Norway and Dalarna in Sweden in the south to the Kola Peninsula in the east. It compromises parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. It is an area within which different Sámi and non-Sámi cultures have lived and moved through the ages. The Sámi are the indigenous people of this region.
