- The church is the pillar of truth
- 2 Timothy 3:12-17
- The church doesn’t create the truth, it upholds and demonstrates the truth.
- “God does not bestow the Spirit on his people in order to set aside the use of His word, rather to render it fruitful.” John Calvin
- “As seed is made for soil and soil for seed, so the heart is made for God’s truth and God’s truth for the heart.” Richard Glover

- Types of itching ears:
- Theological itching ears
- “I can’t worship a God that would _______.”
- Moral / Lifestyle itching ears

- Entertainment / Comfort itching ears
- “A church that can’t worship must be entertained. And leaders who can’t lead a church to worship must provide the entertainment.” AW Tozer
- “Church members will want to be religiously entertained by Christian performers who tickle their ears. The church that simply opens the Bible is rejected while shallow religious entertainers become celebrities.” Warren Wiersbe
- Ask God to search our hearts and repent of our sins.
- Why should we care about this?
- 2 Timothy 4:1
- God the Father and Jesus the Son care about it
- You will be judged accordingly
- He is coming back again to establish his kingdom
- It’s worth it
- 2 Timothy 4:7-8
