Hundreds gathered at St. Anne’s Church in Sligo on Saturday afternoon for the funeral mass of Very Reverand Fr. Dominic Gillooly.
Fr. Gillooly, originally from Mount Cashel in county Roscommon passed away on Monday at Sligo University Hospital.
Fr. Gillooly served the local community for 41 years.
He retired in 2015 but remained on at St. Anne’s serving as curate.
In a statement issued following his passing, St. Anne’s Church said that Fr. Gillooly served the community with devotion and love for over four decades.
Speaking in the homily, chief celebrant Fr. Steve Walsh says Fr. Gillooly will be remembered particularly, for his kindness.
