Taoiseach leads tributes to Sligo broadcaster Tommie Gorman

The Taoiseach has led tributes in the Dail this afternoon to veteran broadcaster Tommie Gorman who passed away earlier today.

In a statement his family said he died “peacefully” surrounded by family as they paid tribute to “a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend”.

The Sligo native worked for RTÉ News and Current Affairs starting in 1980 and retired in 2021 after 41 years.

At the time of his retirement, Mr Gorman was RTÉ News's Northern Editor.

Speaking in the Dail, Taoiseach Simon Harris said that the late Tommie Gorman will be remembered for his incredible contribution to not only broadcasting but peace on the island of Ireland:
