Capítulo 63: In this episode of Ocu-Pasión, we are delighted to welcome our exceptional guest, Brenda Gonzalez, the Co-CEO of Tamarindo podcast. Tamarindo is a lighthearted yet profoundly impactful show hosted by Brenda Gonzalez and Ana Sheila Victorino. Together, they navigate the intricate landscapes of politics, culture, and self-development, amplifying crucial issues and voices that inspire action.
In this episode, we delve into the captivating origin story of Tamarindo and its evolution over time. We also uncover how Brenda's personal family narrative deeply influences her worldview and advocacy work. Additionally, we explore the enchanting journey of building connections and community through the show, especially after the introduction of Ana Sheila Victorino, her co-host, who brought a soothing wellness dimension to the podcast. Finally, we unveil the exciting joint project, "Encuentro," a retreat crafted for cultural creators and podcasters to foster connections and collaboration.

Brenda brings a wealth of experience, boasting over 15 years of work with community-based organizations, primarily centered on social justice. Her journey began as a formerly undocumented student, shaping her deep interest in politics. In fact, she even taught American Government at Cal State Fullerton before having the right to vote. Her passion for politics often takes the form of comical rants, and she is a prolific writer and speaker on topics ranging from politics to gender and civil rights.

Originally from Puebla, Mexico, Brenda now calls Los Angeles home, where she has become a self-appointed ambassador of Mexican cuisine, particularly Tacos Arabes, Cemitas, Mole, y Chiles en Nogada.
