• Carson Spiers essentially gave the Reds a start going 5 and two thirds innings in relief giving up 4 hits and 7 k’s. In his 5 outings this season, hes gone over 3 innings every time while giving up only 5 earned runs. His era is now 2.33
• The Reds offense went to sleep. 5 total hits. Two of them by santiago espinal and one of those, he was gunned down trying to extend a single into a double
• Maile boosted his average to 189 and his obp to 294 with a home run to left field.
• Steer and india also stayed hot with a hit a piece.
• The Reds are back at it Tuesday night against the cleveland guardians in the ohio cup. Who will take home the gold?It was announced Hunter Greene was pushed back so he will not be starting. David Bell said it was not hunter greene’s idea.

• The Red Sox split their 4 game set with the white sox as they win 6-4 yesterday in the tenth inning
• Mariners beat the royals in 10 innings to avoid their first sweep of the season.
• The tigers dismantle the brewers 10-2. Tarik skubal earned his 8th win of the season and drops his era to sub 2. He joins clayton kershaw in 2014 as the only pitchers in MLB history with an 18 start stretch with 100+ innings pitched, 20 or fewer earned runs, 20 or fewer walks, 130 + strikeouts and 13+ wins. Skuball is 13-1 with a 1.64 era and a 139-19 k-bb ratio over his last 18 starts
• Guardians beat the hopeless marlins 6-3

NL CENTRAL STANDINGS

• Brewers in first place at 38-27
• Cubs and Reds are tied for second at 32-34 (6.5 back.)
• Cardinals are 31-33
• Pirates 31-34 and are 7 games back.
• There is a four way tie for the final wild card spot between the giants, cubs, reds, and cardinals.

NBA

• The Celtics hold on to beat the Mavericks 105-98. Luka did everything he could to cover the spread. He scored 32 points with 11 assists and 11 rebounds.
• Irving no showed again shooting 7-18 from the field. Pj washington was the second leading scorer with 17 points.
• Jrue holiday led the way for the celtics with 26 points. 11-14 shooting adding 11 rebounds.
• Jaylen brown added 21 points and 7 assists
• Jayson tatum…. Yikes. 18 points on 6-22 shooting. He did have 9 boards and 12 assists. 12-for-38 (31.6%) from the field and 28.6% on 3-pointers and averaging just 17 points while committing 4.5 turnovers per game through the first two games of the Finals.

• Scottie scheffler won the memorial at 8 under par. It got close at the end as morikowa lost by a stroke and had a chance on the last hole.

• Team USA veterans were concerned about how caitlin clark’s millions of fans would react to her likely limited playing time on a stacked olympic roster so they did not add her to the team.
