The Two Wings Of God's Favour: Mercy and Truth
Dare Abioro

This article is directed to those who are not honest to God and to themselves, who needs help but pretended like they never needed it. Those who exalt their own self righteousness over the mercy of God, those who despise correction and those who are pure in their own sight and the proud in heart. If Mercy and Truth has never met in your life you need to seek for it, you don't have a clue of what I am about to share, it is deep, it gives me the secret to why David enjoyed so much favour from God despite his shortcomings. David understood the subject of Mercy and Truth more than anyone.

Let me make some clarification about Mercy and Truth here.

Firstly, I am not referring to Mercy in the beatitude in Matthew 5, which says 'Blessed are the Merciful, for they shall obtain Mercy"

Secondly, I am not referring to the Truth as in person of Jesus Christ.

Proverb 3:5-6 "Let no MERCY and TRUTH FORSAKE you, bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. And so found FAVOUR and HIGH ESTEEM in the sight of GOD and MAN.

David taught his son, Solomon about Mercy and Truth, it is possible for mercy and truth to forsake a man, and also for a man to forsake mercy and truth, just as money has wings and flies away. When mercy and truth is no longer in operation in the life of a man, he begins to operate under a close heaven.

When a man is HONEST to God, MERCY flow towards him from God

When a man is HONEST to Himself, TRUTH flow from him to God

Mercy and Truth are two sides of a coin, they work simultaneously in the life of a man.

Matthew 9:13 "But go and learn what this mean 'I desire mercy and not sacrifice. For I did not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance."
The pharisees were not happy on how Jesus Christ was relating to sinners, He ate them and make friends with them and the pharisees questioned why Jesus Christ would do that, if truly He was whom He claimed to be. Jesus told them, "He did not come for the righteous but sinners. The pharisees had little or no mercy, to them is unholy to eat with sinners, they showed that their own righteousness is greater than mercy of God.

If a person BELIEVES he is RIGHTEOUS, the person would not NEED A SAVIOUR. The pharisees were never true to their own heart. They needed help but pride, arrogance in their hearts would not make them approach God, they think they know all but they are empty inside. They FORSAKE the mercy that could have been theirs, and sinners who are true to their heart received favour from God. There is no record that any of the pharisees received miracle from Jesus Christ except WOES in Matthew 23.

Luke 18:11-12 " The pharisees stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank you that I am not like other men- extortioner, unjust, adultress, or even as this tax collector.

Luke 18:13-14 "And the tax collector , standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast saying God be merciful unto me a sinner. I tell man went home JUSTIFIED rather than the other; for everyone who exalt himself will be humbled and he who humbled himself will be exalted.

The tax collector went home justified because he did not exalt his heart before God and never claimed self righteousness, the mercy of God was drawn to him. The Pharisees went home condemned because he forsook the place of God's mercy. God gives grace to the humble and resist the proud. It is in human nature to boast in his effort and strength which God did not take pleasure in.

Jonah 2:8 " Those who regard worthless Idol FORSAKE their own MERCY."
