Barry first found music when he borrowed his sister's record collection when he was about eight and was hooked. When Caroline started it was a new beginning, and he listened to all the stations, but Caroline was his favourite by far. Later he became a singer in a band, then started doing discos when he was 18. If you reflect on the joyous music that graced the Billboard Hot 100 in the summer of 2015, it would be hard to believe that people were engaged in activities beyond falling in love and relishing a warm breeze. No song illustrated this point more vividly than OMI’s “Cheerleader,” a whimsical tropical tune that soared to the coveted #1 spot on the charts. However, the question remains: why didn’t the US clamor for more of OMI, considering he undeniably had songs worthy of being soundtracks to fireworks and hula hoop sessions? This week, we're joined by Tony Hartman to explore whether we can consider ourselves as cheerleaders for OMI’s career.
