002- You're not an expert. Neither are we.

Everyone’s an expert at something these days. Whether it be design, engineering, or underwater basket weaving, we all have our talents. But what happens when these skills stop us from seeking to learn more about our field?

We work our whole life improving our skills so that we can be the best ______ (insert profession) out there. If you want to be a professional soccer player, you constantly play soccer throughout your life until finally you make it to “the major leagues”. If you want to be a doctor, you go to waayyyy to many years of school until you make it.

We work so hard so that we can be a professional/expert/specialist. Then finally one day, we make it. We are the expert. We’ve reached the top. But what now?

The second you think you are the best at something is the second that you will stop trying to be better at it.

If you’re not careful, becoming an expert can stop your drive to be better. Instead, it’s best to be thirsty for more. Work harder. Learn more. Get in the mindset that there is a huge amount that you aren’t good at or that you don’t know.

It’s a sad truth. Making it to the top can stop you from achieving your full potential.
