Picking up where we left off with The Roberts Family in 1923, we cover some contextual history and Lorin's wild stories begin with three jail breaks from 1923 to 1932, and many other shenanigans. 1932 was a crazy year in this story, so there's more to unpack next time in part three!
This story comes from 90% primary sources too numerous to list here (hundreds!), but some other links of interest include:
Tom MacMillan's Chebacco Chat for MDI HIstorical Society https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1T2RIyMVajg&t=14s his master's thesis is also great, along with my friend Carol Patterson-Martineaux's PHD dissertation on academic racism in the early 20th century.
Linda Gordon's book The Second Coming of the KKK is a winner - this gives a pretty central but thorough view of the Second Rising.
Brace yourselves for Birth of a Nation... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebtiJH3EOHo&pp=ygURYmlydGggb2YgYSBuYXRpb24%3D
Black Bangor by Maureen Elgersman Lee is also a fabulous resource for Black history somewhere near the subject part of the state relevant to this story.
