We're joined by music lecturer, writer and podcaster Karlyn King in our latest episode, tackling one of the biggest rock bands in the world - and talking about a blues musician who should definitely be better-known...

With blues as the theme, Fran has picked five early songs by The Rolling Stones to argue that they are an overhyped band in this genre. Will Babs & Karlyn agree that they continue to receive way too many accolades?

Karlyn also introduces Fran & Babs to Memphis Minnie, a fascinating genius who wrote around 200 songs, including the Led Zeppelin-covered When the Levee Breaks. How is it possible that she's not more famous? And which animals does she like writing songs about?

Listen to Karlyn's podcast Songs are Spells, where she talks to people in the music industry about what music and magic means to them. Karlyn is also a music lecturer and is about to complete her PhD at University of Birmingham which explores the enduring format of vinyl records in the digital era - find out more on her website.

You can find the playlist for this episode on Spotify - it includes all songs from our playlists, plus bonus ones from other artists we've discussed during the episode.
