In this week's episode Sandra talks about the Mothman. The Mothman is known as West Virginia folklore. The Mothman was seen between November 15h 1966 and December 5th 1967 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. The Mothman was described as a large flying man with ten-foot wings and red eyes. Although many people have reported incidents of seeing the Mothman, most people believe it may have been an animal that was not native to West Virginia. Today you can attend the annual Mothman festival, which started in 2002 and now there are about ten to twelve thousand people who attend each year. Later, Danielle discusses the Murder of Kitty Genovese. She was killed in New York City on March 13, 1964. She was arriving home after working at a bar in the early hours of the morning. A man was stalking her movements and attacked her when she was steps away from reaching her apartment. Winston Mosely proceeded to rape and stabbed her to death. Kitty's murder is known for creating the Bystander Effect classification. The New York Times reported that 38 of Kitty's neighbors and witnesses chose to not intervene and potentially save her. This was debunked years later when it became clear that the exact number of witnesses who were able to intervene was actually unknown.
