Episode 72. The Cocaine Queen Part Two and Basilisk
Manage episode 340561973 series 3275335
In this episode, Danielle and Sandra discuss Mother of Dragons, swimming snakes, and Dave the Intern's voice is finally heard this week. Then Danielle dives into Part Two of Giselda Blanco, a cocaine queenpin. A greatly feared and powerful player in the Columbia drug trade. As her reputation and wealth grew so did her list of enemies. Eventually, a drug war began in Miami with Griselda being the main reason for the number of deaths. Hear about her rise and eventual downfall.
Later, Sandra talks about the legend of the Basilisk. Although it may have started to appear in other forms, today the basilisk is known for appearing as a cobra-like snake. Its history states that not only can the basilisk only be male, but that it is one of the most powerful creatures, and has the power to kill people, due to its venom. Back in medieval times, it was said to be able to breathe fire with a loud roar, at another point it was described as a chicken with dragon wings. Today it is most likely well known for its depiction of a serpent in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
