Konstantin Igumnov var en rysk pianist och lärare. Vid 15 års ålder började han på Moskvakonservatoriet. Han studerade piano för bl.a. Ziloti och komposition för Tanejev, Arenskij och Ippolitov-Ivanov. Efter sex år tog han examen med guldmedalj i piano. Igumnov var lärare vid Moskvakonservatoriet under 49 år, men gav parallellt egna konserter. Han hade en lyrisk pianostil och en andlig koppling till musiken som hindrade ett alltför uppenbart virtuoseri. Som lärare tryckte han på förhållandet mellan sång och pianospel, både vad gäller frasering och tonkvalité. Mer information på sverigesradio.se/p2
