Tune in to Episode 33 of the PA Talks series with Daniel Arsham, an American artist who combines art, architecture, and performance. Arsham was just 12 when Hurricane Andrew destroyed his home which continues to be a theme in his works. After graduating from The Cooper Union in New York City with full scholarship, Arsham started an exhibition called ‘’The House’’ with his artist friends and later co-founded Snarkitecture with fellow architect Alex Mustonen in 2008. Snarkitecture is a multidisciplinary collaborative design practice established to investigate the boundaries between the disciplines of art and architecture. The practice focuses on the reinterpretation of everyday materials and structures using installations, architectural environments, and objects for a diverse range of clients such as Calvin Klein, COS, Kith, and more. His debut series, Future Relic, consists of nine short films that depict a future civilization before and after Earth undergoes major ecological changes. Arsham’s work has been shown at PS1 (New York); The Museum of Contemporary Art (Miami) and The New Museum (New York). In this episode Daniel discussed about his works in sculpture, architecture, drawing, and films. I hope you enjoy the podcast.
