Boundaries and mindfulness can help you achieve things you’d never dreamed possible.

Gemma Sandwell is an empath and highly sensitive person (HSP) who has dealt with anxiety and burnout.

She also recently did a TedX Talk that streamed live to over 25,000 people, a journey that required her to check in with herself and make sure that the decision was in alignment with her gifts, goals, and energy.

When Gemma received word that she had been accepted by TedX, she felt a burst of high-vibrational energy, which told her that it was the right decision for her. But this wasn’t the only check-in she performed.

Gemma practiced major self care during her TedX Talk: meditating in the car, making sure she was in the best headspace, and consciously choosing to skip the networking event afterward.

Through a combination of mindfulness and boundaries, Gemma was able to perform well during this important and nerve-wracking opportunity.

Gemma grew up believing that she needed to serve others first, so found it challenging to create and protect her own boundaries. Through support of friends and coaches, she learned over time that it was okay to set boundaries, such as not attending networking events if she didn’t want to, not feeling as though she needed to be freely available to clients, and only working with clients whose values aligned with her own.

She also learned how to set bigger boundaries with friends who asked for free coaching and consulting.

She needed to reach a breaking point to understand that boundaries were essential, not only for her business but for herself as well.

In‌ ‌this‌ ‌episode of the Paid to Be You podcast,‌ ‌you’ll discover:‌ ‌

  • How a mindfulness practice will help you step up and succeed in your business
  • The benefits of developing and maintaining boundaries
  • How to avoid attracting clients who aren’t a match

“I observed my mum giving lots to others and then being quite drained herself, so I think I kind of repeated that pattern. Almost like it didn’t matter what I was like, as long as I’d been of service in some way.”

— Gemma Sandwell
