Welcome to the first episode of Paralyzed Nation, a podcast drilling down into the hard questions facing Israeli voters.

This is Israel's fifth election in less than four years. But what are these elections actually about? How did our electoral system become so dysfunctional? And can it be fixed?

In our limited series podcast, Amanda Borschel-Dan speaks with Times of Israel political analysts and learns about the forces that have brought us to this political deadlock.

In this first episode of Paralyzed Nation, senior analyst Haviv Rettig Gur proposes three paths to end the election stalemate. He focuses on the three front-runners: Likud head Benjamin Netanyahu, Yesh Atid head Yair Lapid and Benny Gantz, co-head of National Unity. We hear how we can potentially un-paralyze the nation.

IIn future episodes, we'll hear more from Rettig Gur, as well as from the rest of our expert ToI political team, who will answer voice mail questions from listeners. Please send questions to podcast@timesofisrael.com
