Ms. Kiran Maharaj is the President of the Media Institute of the Caribbean and Vice President of the Trinidad and Tobago Publishers and Broadcasters Association. During her presentation, titled Fake news and the future of Journalism: Looking through the Caribbean window, Ms. Maharaj shares insights on the challenges the new media ecosystem poses for traditional journalism in the Caribbean. The presentation also addresses innovative responses to deal with the fake news phenomenon, proposing the adoption of an approach of “creative disruption” in communications and media.
