Our conversationalists for this episode are our colleagues Gill Matthewson and Sarah Mair. Gill is an architect, educator and researcher, currently working with the XYX Lab at Monash University. She is a co-founder and director of Parlour and is responsible for the data analysis that underpins so much of our advocacy. At the time of this recording, Sarah was an architecture student, event curator and furniture designer. She is now an architectural graduate at Hassell.

It is wonderful to have them out in front of the microphones for this wide-ranging conversation across the decades. Gill and Sarah's conversation begins with their motivations for studying architecture, and then charts the twists and turns of careers. Gill talks about working for the Matrix Feminist Collective in London in the 1980s, her masters research on Lily Reich and the Barcelona Pavilion and her move into education and further research. The conversation culminates in a discussion on finding a sense of belonging and place in architecture.

This episode of Parlour POD was produced with the assistance of the Alastair Swayn Foundation through a Design Audio Grant. Thanks!
We hope you enjoy Parlour POD, live recordings from our much loved Seasonal Salon series. For more great Parlour content, head to our website, and follow Parlour on Instagram or LinkedIn. To support our ongoing work, join the Parlour Collective!
