Codependency Uncovered

Breaking Free from Toxic Patterns

Recognizing Unhealthy Patterns

This podcast is not intended to diagnose, treat or give professional advice, I do strongly encourage anyone who may feel they are in a codependent situation or want to explore deeper to consult a mental health professional. I am simply sharing things I have been discovering about myself on my journey in order to help shed some light for others who may be feeling like I was.

In this episode, we will explore the importance of recognizing unhealthy patterns in your relationships as the first step towards overcoming codependency. Awareness is key to making positive changes and breaking free from toxic dynamics. Here are some tips to help you recognize and address unhealthy patterns:

- Reflect on your past relationships and identify recurring themes or behaviors that have contributed to codependency.

- Pay attention to feelings of guilt, resentment, or obligation in your interactions with others, as these may indicate codependent tendencies.

- Seek support from trusted friends, family members, or a therapist to gain perspective on your relationship patterns and behaviors.

Here are five not-so-common signs to be aware of:

🧐Micro-Managing Emotions

😔Over-Identification with the Partner's Issues

🛟Chronic Rescuing

😭Avoidance of Conflict to an Unhealthy Degree

😫Obsession with the Relationship at the Expense of Other Relationships

By taking steps to recognize and address unhealthy patterns in your relationships, you are empowering yourself to break free from toxic dynamics and cultivate healthier connections. Remember, awareness is key to making positive changes in your life. Thank you for tuning in, and I look forward to continuing this journey of self-discovery and transformation with you. Next week we will look at boundaries, what they are and how to set healthy boundaries when overcoming codependent patterns.

Much Peace, Love and Kindness.
