Archery CoachCast Episode #5 - Coaching Youth Shooters Through The Struggle

In this episode our panel of Coaches are International Coach Larry Wise, US Para Olympic Team Coach MJ Rogers, and Coach Frank McDonough. Originally we were going to talk about "The Set Up" step in the NTS but more pressing discussion took over priority. Scrolling through the Archery Coaches Network group on FB I stumbled across two coaches struggling with helping teen shooters. They took to social media to look for guidance.

Certainly recommendations flood from all directions on social media but we had an opportunity to record and help two coaches and multiple kids in one shot so we derailed our original plan and tried to create a learning opportunity for coaches dealing with teen shooters who struggle to hand performance in one way or another.

Coaches have to handle so much more than tournament prep, understanding of rules, and equipment issues. We wear so many hats and sometimes our coaching skills can be challenged.

On behalf of IAI and the CoachCast we hope that this episode helps lots of youth archery coaches struggling to find a way to take their shooters focus off score, placement, or other things and find that way to teach their shooters how to implement that Present Process Thinking.
