13 “You are the salt of the earth.

The Christian life is designed to prevent decay in the lives of those around us.

Matthew 5:13-16 (NLT)

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.

Our Christian influence is diminished if we slip away from God’s plan for our lives.

Mathew 5:14a

14 “You are the light of the world

The Christian life penetrates darkness and shines opportunities for others to see Jesus.

Psalm 119:105

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Matthew 5:14-15

14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.
