If you want to build a business that grows without you, you will need to get used to identifying and dealing with roadblocks.

A roadblock is an inefficiency or lack of resources that shows up under load at a certain time, usually when a business is starting to do well.

In most businesses I work with, the business owner themselves is the main roadblock. Because they control the day to day running of the business, when more clients come on board, they haven’t got the systems or team in place to deal with the extra workload. So they end up working all hours, carrying too many roles.

In this show I demonstrate that roadblocks are a positive thing. They highlight what needs to change in your business - all you need to do is to fix the roadblock and that will improve operational efficiencies and the ability to scale your business.

You will learn:

  • That roadblocks show up under success - you know you’re doing the right thing when you see them
  • That moving yourself as the business owner from running to ‘conducting’ the business can remove the first roadblock
  • Resources are not just people - they are knowledge, systems and processes as well
  • That taking time out to build robust systems and processes is vital to a growing business
  • That building a team with different strengths and weaknesses will help you overcome the human resources roadblock
