Bloomsburg University (Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania) Percussion Professor and Band Director Gifford Howarth stops by to talk about the PASIC 2023 Keyboard Committee Panel he moderated on Front Ensemble Rehearsal Engagement (05:35), his percussion activities at Bloomsburg, his adjudication responsibilities and being an artist/clinician (25:10), getting his college job and how his job at Bloomsburg has changed over the years (40:00), the clinic work he's done in Asia over 2 decades (55:40), growing up in upstate New York, his marching and lessons background, and his choir singing, solo singing, and background in musicals (01:08:30), his undergrad at Ithaca College (NY) and studying with Gordon Stout (01:22:00), his master’s degree from Kent State (OH), and settles in for the Random Ass Questions, including segments on skill development through sight reading, his active cooking life, Stephen King and The Dark Tower Series, the musical Hamilton, and being moved by performances he’s judged (01:40:20).
