Chop-chop lady cases in the Philippines have been among the most infamous incidents that caused public outrage in almost every decade since the first-ever chop-chop lady case happened to Lucila Lalu in the 1960s, which was never solved.

Lucila was the first to fall victim to this kind of gruesome killing; however, she would not be the last. In the early 1990s, another chop-chop lady case would shock the entire nation after the mutilated body of Elsa Castillo was found in Barangay Polong, Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

On the morning of September 27, 1993, a crucial witness came forward to the authorities and reported that he helped his employer dispose of the body of Elsa Castillo. She was chopped into pieces and placed into four garbage bags.
