The KYW Newsradio All-Local for Monday, July 29, 2024 (Evening Edition):

  • Police are investigating a deadly crash on the Montgomery County/Philadelphia border. One person was killed and three others were injured when a car that was reportedly stolen slammed into an SUV early Monday morning. KYW's Tim Jimenez has more from Springfield, Montgomery County, where a stretch of Stenton Avenue was closed all morning long.
  • The parents of CHOP doctor Barbara Friedes, who was killed when drunk drier Michael Vahey ran into her bike earlier this month, say the fact that he was "back on the streets of Philadelphia drinking and driving at twice the legal limit is simply unacceptable. The fact that Barbara lost her life to a drunk driver operating a motor vehicle at twice the legal limit for a second time is even more despicable."
  • Reward money is being offered to those who help police catch people illegally dumping trash and debris around the City of Camden. As KYW’s Nina Baratti tells us, it’s part of an ongoing effort to stop the long-time issue.
  • Philadelphia district and charter schools are getting ready for the new academic year that begins before Labor Day. We get the story from KYW education reporter Mike DeNardo.
