A study of the main doctrines and arguments of Immanuel Kant, 18th century philosophy who revolutionized ethics, aesthetics, metaphysics, and epistemology.
In this course, will will read and critically evaluate some of Kant’s major works, including the Critique of Pure Reason and the Groundwork for the Metaphysics of Morals. We will focus on three major issues: 1) his formulation of the problem of knowledge, 2) his grounding of ethics and 3) his development of aesthetic theory.
