Do aliens exist or are we alone in the universe? Most scientists wager that there must be some other forms of intelligent life out there, by probability if nothing else, and yet the presumption of alien life forms brings about a whole different question in itself. If aliens exist, where are they? Why haven't they been in touch?
This is what's known as the Fermi Paradox. If intelligent life forms exist, then where are they? Why haven't we been able to detect them, or indeed, they detect us? There's several answers for this, from the rational, to the disturbing, to the frankly ludicrous (human zoo anyone?)
