SNP and Green MSPs have voted through the Scottish Government Budget for the year ahead which includes a tax hike for high-earners. Shona Robison, the Finance Secretary, claimed today the creation of a new 45 per cent "advanced" rate of income tax for Scots earning between £75,000 and £125,140 would help fund the NHS.

Meanwhile, supermarkets could be banned from selling meal deals and restaurants prevented from offering free drinks refills under plans being considered by SNP ministers.
