Planning, while important, is impeded at times by external issues or forces. Mental illness can be one of them. As Clara Hughes’ book, “Open Heart, Open Mind“ states in its forward:

“This book is written for anyone who has struggled or is struggling. And it is written for all those connected to the struggle.”

In this episode, I interview Michele Hollins, QC of Dunphy Best Blocksom LLP and former leader of the Canadian Bar Association (national). She initiated, with other organizations such as Bell Let’s Talk Day, dialogue and resources to help lawyers that deal with mental illness. She gets vulnerable in recounting her battle with depression, describes how it impacted her legal practice and candidly shares her self care going forward.
