Hello and welcome to the fourth episode of the Guidehouse Insights’ Plugged In Podcast! On this podcast we dive in on a range of energy industry topics, and this week it is autonomous vehicles.

This month we spoke to Sam Abuelsamid about his report (with coauthor Jake Foose) titled, “Light Duty Automated Vehicles: Global Consumer and Commercial Market Forecasts," along with Sam's “Guidehouse Insights Leaderboard Automated Driving Systems.”

Sam is a Senior Principal Research Analyst at Guidehouse Insights and heads the mobility team. His research focuses on automated driving, mobility services, telematics, connectivity, cybersecurity, and advanced propulsion systems, Sam helps clients understand emerging technology trends and shape strategies. Sam was trained as a mechanical engineer and has two decades of experience as a product development engineer in the automotive industry prior to joining Guidehouse, He regularly contributes to publications including Forbes and Automotive Engineering.
This episode starts out with a few definitions: What is a light duty automated vehicle (LDAV)? What are all these levels? What is the Level 4 discussed in this report specifically? Then we get into how this market developed, who the market leaders are, what is going on in different parts of the world, and what the drivers and barriers are going forward. Sam is incredibly knowledgeable, and I learned a lot from this conversation. I hope you will too!
To learn more the report is available on Guidehouse Insights webpage, and to keep up to date with the podcast, please feel free to subscribe on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. We look forward to you joining us for our next conversation in July. Thank you to Guidehouse for providing us this platform of discussion.
