One of the most powerful statements you can make, says Sarah Swafford, is, "I promise not to use you." In this dynamic interview, the author, speaker, and former college RA helps parents make sense of the growing dating dysfunction among high school and college-aged kids, and makes practical suggestions for saving your sons and daughters from the drama that accompanies the hook-up mentality.

Swafford is the founder of Emotional Virtue Ministries and the author of the book: Emotional Virtue: A Guide to Drama-Free Relationships. As a graduate and former resident assistant of Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, she had a close-up view of romantic relationships and witnessed for herself just how much young people have suffered from the fall-out of the changing dating culture. Her response has been to address young people honestly about the importance of loving and not using one another, by growing in what she calls “emotional virtue.” Sara has spoken to thousands of teens and college-aged students and is a much sought-after speaker on topics such as dating, relationships, and inner confidence. You can find her talks and books at emotionalvirtue.com.
