Dana Malstaff, Podcasting Veteran, James Martell and Digital Marketing Strategist, Kimberly Juchnowski are in the secret beach hut studio, talking with Dana Malstaf, host of The Boss Mom Podcast. Dana always knew she wanted to be an entrepreneur and she always knew she wanted to be a mom. So of course she decided to start both her business and her family at the same time. She soon discovered that she’d stumbled onto a goldmine of guilt.

James and Kimberly will talk with Dana about how her podcast fits into her business strategy, how she formats her shows (Dana actually uses three different formats), the biggest mistakes she’s made, how she comes up with topics and her strategy for monetization. All useful little nuggets of wisdom, but these are small potatoes compared to Dana’s bigger message. Yes, ladies, you can have it all, a rewarding business and a loving family and your sanity! And we’ll have no talk of balancing. As Dana points out, the very word sounds exhausting. So purge those images of precarious circus performers from your head, pour yourself a glass of wine, put your feet up and listen to Dana Malstaf tell how she raises her family and her business, and all the parallels she sees between the two.

Meet Dana, Host of The Boss Mom Podcast

Dana is a mother, business & content strategist, coach, speaker, writer, podcaster, brainstorm facilitator, and blind spot reducer. Dana wrote Boss Mom: The Ultimate Guide to Raising a Business & Nurturing Your Family Like a Pro to offer tools for all of those “naptime hustlers” who yearn for more time and less guilt as they nurture growing families and businesses.

According to Dana, “Our job is not to sacrifice our lives for our children, but to show our children what a good life looks like.” (If you’re wondering what the drumming noise in the background is, Susan B. Anthony and Elisabeth Cady Stanton sat up in their graves and started applauding when Dana said that.)

Dana believes that by following their passions, Boss Moms are raising a generation that will understand that what we build in the world is just as important as obtaining financial stability, and that if you’re passionate about what you do, financial stability will follow.

Listen to Your Listeners (or Readers)

Dana’s business has a great brand. However, she tells James and Kimberly that neither the name nor the graphic were her first choice. In fact, they were among her least favorites of the available options. But Dana is a big believer in taking decision making back to her community of listeners and readers. They liked the name Boss Mom and the Boss Mom graphic. Now Dana does too. In fact, she knows they’re perfect for her business.
