Its the 45th episode of the Podghost Podcast as we welcome Marzana Rahman, a survivor of domestic violence who has now become an activist. Marzana's bravery in sharing her story aims to raise awareness about domestic violence, particularly within the South Asian community.
Prepare to be moved by Marzana's account of her abusive marriage, which left her questioning her own worth. In a candid conversation with hosts Yazz and Seff, Marzana opens up about her experiences and also sheds light on her journey as the driving force behind The Broken Bride campaign.
Growing up, Marzana struggled with self-acceptance, feeling "beautifully cursed." Unfortunately, life dealt her another blow when she went through a broken marriage at the tender age of 18. This left her burdened with the stigma of being a divorcee, and she carried this weight for years, feeling fragile and waiting for the final breaking point.
However, she gradually found her independence and eventually married the love of her life. Tragically, this union turned into nine months of physical and mental abuse at the hands of the person she believed would protect her forever. Her confidence shattered, Marzana reached the brink of ending her own life, even attempting it unsuccessfully.
